Bath maiden winner last spring and subsequently performed with credit in a string of Group races, including when third in the Horris Hill at Newbury (7f, heavy) in October. Wasn't disgraced on return/handicap debut at Ascot but he still appears to be a tough mark, despite being eased 2 lb.

Off the mark in 6f Newbury maiden last May and went on to land a nursery at Glorious Goodwood (7f, good to firm) in August. Signed off 2-y-o campaign with a decent effort in listed company (gelded since) but one suspects that there are others in this line-up who will prove to be better-treated.

Took the notable scalp of Big Mojo when winning a 5f Beverley maiden last July and followed that with a couple of creditable efforts in listed company. Didn't shape at all badly when fifth on return/handicap debut at Newmarket (6f, good to firm) and this step up to 7f looks a good move.

Landed the odds in a Newcastle maiden following a wind op in January and has progressed in handicaps since, scoring at Newmarket and Ascot (both over 7f on good/good to firm) either side of a near-miss at Goodwood. Rock-solid candidate.

Won Goodwood minor event for Richard Hannon last summer, but hasn't kicked on since and will need to step up on his reappearance seventh at Newmarket where he was making his handicap/yard debut.

Confirmed debut promise when winning a 9-runner novice at Lingfield (7f, AW) in September. Followed up in decisive fashion at Kempton the following month and while a good deal more will be required now handicapping back on turf, he remains open to improvement.

Successful on 3 of his 4 starts as a juvenile for Ollie Sangster and showed improved form starting out for new yard when runner-up on return at Newmarket (6f, good). Proved something of a let-down when well-backed at Chester next time, but he's certainly not one to write off just yet.

Plausible excuse for his low-key effort in the Glorious Goodwood nursery won by Mr Chaplin last summer and otherwise did little wrong at 2 yrs, ending campaign with a solid second in a valuable sales race at Newmarket (6f, good to soft). Gelded since and shouldn't be far away if fully tuned-up.

Winner of 6f Windsor novice on third start of a productive 2-y-o campaign, following which she was a close third in a valuable Doncaster sales race and runner-up in a minor event over this C&D. Likely to pay her way this season but sprinting will probably prove to be her game.

Showed plenty of ability without managing to get her head in front in 5 starts last season. Off the mark at second attempt this time round when proving 2 lengths too strong for Solar Army (winner since) at Newmarket (7f, good to firm) and she needs considering, for all that this is tougher up 6 lb.

Twice successful in 6f AW nurseries at 2 yrs and holding form well since the turn of the year, latest third of 11 in a 6f Chester handicap was a solid effort. Well worth another try at this trip and he's not without each-way appeal off the same mark.

Form of the Wolverhampton novice he won in December is working out well and very nearly added to that when nailed on the line by Rare Change in a York handicap (7f, good) 10 days ago. 2 lb nudge fair enough and another big run is firmly on the cards.

Consistent in defeat in nurseries last summer and, having been gelded following 2-y-o campaign, he has returned an improved performer this season, winning good-ground handicaps at Windsor (6f) and York (7f). Likely to be in the thick of things once again.

Progressed on the AW following a wind op, winning 3 on the bounce at up to 8.6f in February/March. Proved just as good back on turf when finding just one too good in a big-field Ascot handicap (6f, firm) recently and the return to this trip will be in his favour. Couldn't rule out.

Richard Hannon has saddled the winner of this handicap twice in recent years and BEST RATE, who was beaten a whisker by the re-opposing Rare Change at York recently, could be another for the yard. He was forced to switch at a crucial stage on the Knavesmire and is now 1 lb better off with the winner. Cases can be made for any number of the others, with Uncle Don third on the list ahead of Power Fizz.
