2.40 Goodwood – Class 3 (0-90) Handicap 2m

Faye Bramley is making a good start to her training career and is taken to score here with ALMUHIT, who made such a good start for the stable when placed in a valuable handicap hurdle at the Punchestown Festival a few weeks ago. That effort shows Almuhit to be in very good form and he’s the type to do at least as well back on the flat, with his best form in this sphere coming on a sound surface.

Almuhit is fairly handicapped on the pick of his efforts for Emmet Mullins on the flat, having been placed in a couple of staying handicaps at the Curragh last year, and he’s 5lb lower than for both of those efforts here, so should go well with fitness assured and conditions very much in his favour.

3.50 Goodwood – Festival Stakes (Listed) 1m1f197y

Liberty Lane is the form pick here based on his impressive win in last year’s Cambridgeshire and he caught the eye when a creditable 3½ lengths third of 6 to The Foxes in the Group 2 Huxley Stakes at Chester last time. This represents an ease in class for Karl Burke’s Teofilo gelding, and he can get back to winning ways against a bunch of inferior rivals.

Exoplanet was second of 8 to Military Order in a Listed race at Kempton on his return from a lengthy absence recently and is just as good on turf, as he showed when an excellent second in the Hampton Court Stakes at Royal Ascot in 2023. If he doesn’t bounce from that fine return, then he looks much the biggest threat to the selection.

3.25 Bath – Class 5 (0-68) Handicap 5f 160y

An open-looking handicap, but a chance is taken on CINDY LOU WHO, who shaped well on debut for Tony Carroll at Windsor, and is handicapped to win on the balance of her juvenile form.

Cindy Lou Who showed more then enough to win at this level last term, her best effort when a fast-finishing third in a 5f Sandown maiden after which she was highly tried at times. Leaving Gay Kelleway prior to her return, she looked to retain all that ability when beaten just over 2¼ lengths in a handicap at Windsor where she wasn’t seen to maximum effect, losing her pitch at halfway and then meeting some trouble when staying on in the final furlong. I would expect improvement to come after than encouraging reappearance, where she split a pair of subsequent winners in Over Spiced and Forager.
