SCARBOROUGHWARNING – 4.45 Yarmouth (NAP)
Sir Mark Prescott’s got the entries lined up for SCARBOROUGHWARNING ahead of her tilt at the Infobond Technical Mainpower Services Handicap at Yarmouth. The Harry Angel filly backed up quickly after her win at Wolverhampton last October and that could be the plan again as she has three options on Sunday. Her reappearance third at Kempton a week ago was very encouraging and Prescott’s found a lovely 0-78 to get her turf campaign rolling on Thursday.
FIRST VIEW – 3.50 Ripon
FIRST VIEW looks handicapped to have a say in the Ripon Cathedral Handicap for Saeed bin Suroor. The eight-year-old is an in and out character but he’s well capable off 85 as he’s shown a few times and he should come on for his reappearance with the cheekpieces back on. Unexposed over a mile-and-a-quarter, his pace for a mile can help him attain a good prominent early pitch, so he’s got plenty in his favour here as long as they don’t get too much rain.
CASTELLINA – 4.30 Lingfield
It could be worth taking a chance on James Fanshawe’s CASTELLINA in the Mira Showers Rain Supreme Handicap over six furlongs on the Lingfield turf. She broke slowly at Chelmsford last time but was only beaten a couple of lengths at the line and they could go quick here which would suit. Drawn in one on the far side, she could come down the outside of the pack in open space if things pan out nicely.
ARANTES NASCIMENTO – 5.50 Carlisle
Gemma Tutty looks to have found a good spot for ARANTES NASCIMENTO in division one of this amateur jockeys’ handicap over six furlongs. Formerly trained by Julie Camcho, the four-year-old made his stable debut for Tutty over six furlongs at Doncaster last time and he ran well in third, while this more testing track should play to his strengths given he’s done most of his racing over further. Tutty struck at the last Carlisle meeting and it would be no surprise if she got another win on the board here.
ALMAQAM - 7.35 Sandown
ALMAQAM can come forward from his run in the Gordon Richards Stakes to land the Brigadier Gerard at Sandown. He shaped well off a slow gallop last time and suffered trouble in the run late on, but they should go quicker here in an unusually big 10-runner field. Oisin Murphy takes over in the saddle and with improvement expected from his reappearance he can take this on the way to a crack at the top level.
EL PINTO looks well placed by trainer Chris Kellett, the son of Cracksman stepping up to a mile for handicap debut after his seasonal reappearance run in a six-furlong maiden at Ayr earlier in the month. He's understandably been rated around the seven-furlong form from last year but an opening mark of 75 looks manageable and he definitely looks to have trained on from two to three based on the comeback effort when not unduly punished by his rider. Kellett has a tidy (1-3) record with the three-year-olds he's run at Carlisle and this looks an appealing project in a winnable 0-75 handicap.
ELECTRIC BASS - 2.25 Chepstow
ELECTRIC BASS is very much bred for middle-distances and hinted once again that he was ready for a step up in trip when third to Synergism on handicap debut over the extended mile and one furlong at Wolverhampton last month. He's been nudged up a couple of pounds in the weights but seems to have started on a good mark and the son of Cable Bay should be a big threat at Chepstow if taking another step forward as expected.
SHADY BAY - 4.05 Brighton
SHADY BAY looks the one to be on in Brighton's Star Sports 'Confined' Handicap. Tom Ward's filly fits the brief of not winning a race so far in 2025 but she was successful as recently as October 31 and went close when switched back to the turf at Windsor earlier this month. She gets another go off the same mark (64) here and that looks quite generous seeing as the horse who beat her, Tralee Girl, bolted up off 2lb higher at Wolverhampton on Tuesday night.
ALBEGONE - 7.28 Catterick
Three-time course winner ALBEGONE looks primed to add to his Catterick tally on the back of two creditable efforts at Thirsk earlier in May. He drops from 0-85 level into this 0-72 handicap and is taken to get the better of the penalised hat-trick seeker Honour Your Dreams who might find this a sharp enough test.
LATENIGHTFUMBLE - 7.35 Stratford
LATENIGHTFUMBLE still has a bit to learn but has only run over regulation fences three times and does have a fantastic attitude in a finish. She toughed it out to get up narrowly at Cheltenham at the beginning of May and although strictly in much deeper here against horses rated a good stone higher in the ratings, there's a strong suspicion she can perform a bit better than her mark.
KURAKKA - 8.25 Haydock
KURAKKA is the best bet of the night at Haydock. Alan King's lightly-raced colt stepped up on his two-year-old promise, including a third to the classy Bowmark, when opening his ed upped to 10 furlongs in a Chelmsford novice on May. He got the job done quite stylishly that evening and an opening handicap mark of 82 should be within range, especially as he's bred to improve again for the move to a mile and a half.
